Karambar Lake Trek via (Ishkoman Valley Route
Karambar Lake is ranked as the 31st highest lake in the world. It is located near Karambar Pass, which connects Broghil Valley (Chitral) with the Ghizer District (Gilgit-Baltistan). The lake is approximately 3.3 km wide and covers an area of about 2.56 square kilometers. Its outflow first feeds into a smaller lake before continuing downstream towards Broghil.
Trekking to Karambar Lake is a must for adventure enthusiasts. The trek is considered easy in difficulty, but as it requires multiple hours of walking, some prior trekking experience is recommended. It is regarded as one of the most diverse and beautiful treks in Northern Pakistan, offering multiple entry and exit routes to the lake.
Karambar Lake lies along the boundary of Broghil Valley (Chitral) and Ishkoman Valley (Gilgit-Baltistan). The easiest and shortest access route is from the Chitral side (via Mastuj and Broghil Valley). A round trip from Islamabad, including two nights at the lake, typically takes around 11 days.
