A cycling trip on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) from Gilgit town to Khunjerab Pass is a thrilling and challenging adventure, offering stunning views of the Hidukush and Karakoram ranges and glacier along the KKH. Khunjerab borders on China in the North of Hunza valley. The KKH replaces ancient Silk Route which can be viewed frequently while riding.

  • Suitable time for riding is from May – October
  • Total distance is about 270 km one way
  • Total 5-6 days are recommended (This can vary depending on pace, weather conditions, and rest days).
  • Mesmerizing valleys and tourist points like Rakaposhi View Point, Chalt, Nasirabad, central Hunza, Baltit and Altit Forts and Ganish old settlement are on the way.
  • As we approach upper Hunza Attabad Lake, Gulmit, Passu Cones, Batora Glacier and Hussaini Suspension Bridge are on the way which can be enjoyed of course free of cost.
  • Area is peaceful with high literacy rates among population. Locals are welcoming and supportive all the time.
  • The highest ATM machine is located at Khunjerab Pass.
